Root Treatment & Soil Conditioning

The majority of tree health issues occurs under ground. Many tree roots are located in the top 6 to 24 inches of the soil and occupy an area two to four times the diameter of the tree crown. Roots obtain nutrients, water, and oxygen from the soil; key elements for the survival of a tree. In the urban environment soil compaction, improper watering, and change in soil grade can stress a tree and eventually lead to death. Trees also can get planted to deeply which will cause "butt rot" at the base eventually girdling and killing the tree. ACE Tree and Landscaping uses a special tool that utilizes air to move dirt away from the tree and can also amend soil compaction. We can also inspect parts of the root system using this tool.

Roots may also need more air and nutrients which can be provided through vertical mulching: VIDEO
