Collar Excavation
Root/Crown Excavation
Root and crown excavations entail blowing away dirt from the trunk or root zone exposing either the roots or root collar. This is called for when trees are planted too deeply (pics below), dirt/mulch has been piled up around a tree via planter or grade change, or a root inspection is needed. ACE uses a special supersonic air tool to move dirt from a desired location, not damaging the precious fibrous absorbing roots or bark.
The trees in these pictures are trees in Hoover, Al that were planted too deeply. The trunk looks like a telephone pole coming straight out of the ground. This will cause girdling of the tree and is detrimental to a trees health. ACE came in and excavated the root collar to expose the root flare.
